Household Hazardous Waste
Spring Cleanup
Spring cleaning? If you are cleaning your basement or garage and come across hazardous waste, don't pour it down the storm drain, which is against the law anyway. Visit the Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Facility on Firemen's Memorial Drive, outside the village (off Pomona Road, near the Route 45 end). You do not even have to get out of the car to drop off the stuff; they take it out for you!
The weekend dates coming up are: April 18, May 25th, June 13th or any weekday morning from 8 am to 1 pm. Call the hotline at 845-364-2444, but here is a partial list of some of the items they accept: oil and latex paints, wood preservatives, waxes, polishes, resins, driveway sealer, herbicides, 20 lb propane tanks, fax, copy and answering and adding machines, telephones, VCRs, small freon appliances, over the counter and prescription medications, smoke detectors and batteries and lots more!
| If you have materials that do not qualify for collection by our
carters, you may drop them off at the Rockland County Hazardous Waste Facility on
Fireman's Memorial Drive, Pomona. For more information including what materials are accepted and the schedule of operations, please click here for Hazardous Waste Collection Schedule |
